Memories Monday // Digital Shoreditch 2015.

This time last year, I was volunteering at #DS15.
The Digital Shoreditch Festival is (or was) a two week festival dedicated to all things creative and tech, slightly similar to SXSW.
Key themes included wearable tech, advertising and branding, social media, food, healthcare and much more. Pretty much anything to do with digital or technology.

I used 5 days of my precious annual leave to volunteer for the main week - #dedication

I did the morning, noon AND night shifts so the 5am alarm and the 1am bedtime was knackering but so worth it. (To be honest, the late nights were due to the after parties so I wasn't complaining!)

An average day included setting up the events space, sending tons of tweets, listening to a talk, assisting in the cloakroom, drinking endless amounts of tea, racing around Shoreditch Town Hall in search of plastic cups and then finishing it all off at a rooftop bar.

There were ample chances to network with the speakers and the attendees and I got the opportunity to speak at an (much smaller) event as a result, which was great!

The best thing of all was meeting and working with my fellow volunteers. They were all at different stages in their careers and in different areas and we all got on really well. We met up the next week and attended some of the events/"networking" parties that were still happening and had a great time :)

Sadly, there's no festival this year which is a shame because I was really looking forward to it. I hope it returns next year!
